Idea 2011 mostra novos faróis e deve trazer motor Tritec de 1,6 litro e 16 válvulas fabricado na empresa de mesmo nome em Campo Largo, PR, no lugar do 1,8 de oito válvulas fornecido pela General Motors. Potência e torque não devem mudar muito, mas é esperada redução de consumo, além de libertar a Fiat de uma aquisição que perdeu sentido depois do rompimento da associação internacional com a GM. Fruto de uma parceria entre Chrysler e BMW iniciada em 1997, a Tritec fornecia o motor 1,6 para a geração anterior do Mini (que é um produto BMW) e foi adquirida em 2008 pela Fiat. Um motor 16V de 1,8 litro também deve sair da fábrica para equipar modelos da Fiat.
